TANHA SongWorks began long before it had a name — back when I, Neelesh Kapoor, wrote as ‘Tanha’, turning memories into songs and poetry. I wrote simply because it made me feel alive — a way to express emotions I couldn’t always say out loud. Whether it was a quiet moment, a memory, or a feeling that lingered, music became my way of giving it shape.

Even through my college years and across a 25-year journey in the corporate and startup world, the writing never stopped. Between work, travel, and deadlines, I kept returning to words and melodies — keeping ‘Tanha’ alive no matter what.

Over time, people around me — friends, family, and loved ones — heard my compositions and most of them, felt an unexpected connection. Some asked me to write for moments close to their hearts — a brother’s sangeet, a friend’s pre-wedding celebration, special days that deserved something more personal than a speech or a gift. Their admiration, encouragement, and the emotions those songs created made me believe in something bigger — that stories, when woven into music, become unforgettable.

Every time I wrote one of those songs, I realised something: a simple melody could hold memories in a way nothing else could.
